PLC, IIoT & Unified Namespace

Turn a plant full of mixed controllers into one clean, well-organized data layer that every system can subscribe to.

Sound familiar?

Signs it's time

Point-to-point spaghetti

Every application polls the PLCs directly, and each new connection adds load and fragility.

Inconsistent naming

The same data has different names on every line and at every site.

Gaps in your data

Network interruptions mean lost data and incomplete reports.

Projects stall on data access

Analytics and MES initiatives wait months for someone to get the data out.

What's included

What we deliver

  • Unified Namespace architecture: An MQTT-based single source of truth that decouples devices from the applications that use them.
  • ISA-95 asset modeling: Data organized by enterprise, site, area, line and equipment, so it's easy to find and reuse.
  • PLC & device connectivity: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modbus and OPC UA devices, with Kepware where it fits.
  • MQTT broker design: Broker selection and setup with HiveMQ, EMQX or Eclipse Mosquitto, including topic structure and security.
  • Edge gateways: Ignition Edge on lightweight Linux or Windows hardware close to the machines.
  • Store-and-forward: Buffered data at the edge so network interruptions don't create gaps.
  • Edge-to-cloud streaming: Secure data delivery to AWS, Azure or GCP for analytics and enterprise use.

Typical deliverables

  • UNS and ISA-95 data model
  • Topic and naming standards
  • Edge and broker configuration
  • Network and data-flow diagram
  • Connectivity validation report
  • Handover documentation

Every project is secure by design, with role-based access, SSO/MFA and version control built in.

FAQ

Common questions

What is a Unified Namespace?

A Unified Namespace (UNS) is a central, real-time data layer, usually built on MQTT, where every device and system publishes its current state in a consistent structure. Applications subscribe to what they need instead of connecting to each PLC directly.

Do we need to replace our existing SCADA to adopt a UNS?

No. A UNS can be layered alongside your existing systems and adopted gradually, one line or site at a time.

Can you connect mixed-vendor equipment?

Yes. Mixed hardware environments are the norm, and we connect Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modbus, OPC UA and other devices into one consistent model.

Which MQTT broker should we use?

It depends on scale, hosting and support needs. We help you choose between options like HiveMQ, EMQX and Mosquitto, and set it up securely.
